My sister moved to Pendleton around the mid 90’s, and in addition to settling there, being married, and having three kids, her ideals have changed over the years from conservative North Dakota to extreme wokeness Oregon. Notably activist in community functions in addition to her kids, one very environmentally activist driven, another apparently now transgender, and the youngest now gay, for some reason. Oregon is beautiful and deserves better than the marxist disease effecting your state, this country, and my family. God Bless!!!

Definitely seems to have a lot to do with the folks you surround yourself with. Almost without exception, you and I are heavily influenced by those we socialize with. Unless your moral anchor is outside of your interpersonal interactions and you make the conscious, willful effort to not subscribe to "seeking approval of others" mechanics, that water will eventually come to a boil and you and your other frogs are done.

Some like to say that Christ is a crutch for the weak. Indeed, He is my crutch, but greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

i have been trying to move back to the county I was born in and graduated high school since 2018. The property values there have double and tripled and it is not possible from just a real estate tax standpoint even if i had the exorbitant price. I feel you, I really do. Even our generation has been shuffled around through the education and "entertainment/entrainment" industry. Chicken factory and natural gas pipelines massive explosions here within the last 24 hours in Texas and Oklahoma. We are at war.

There are a number of things that make life in the sticks a little more expensive - Oregon's property tax is one of them. The other is the amount of mileage you drive getting groceries and making appointments and work. But, having lived in the big smoke for too many years, the absence of interactions with chemically altered criminals and thugs is worth the price of admission.

What’s happening these days, you ask.

One thing that’s happening is women are becoming the new men. Turns out, women love power every bit as much as men — only many of these women may not have much relevant experience leading up to their “powerful positions.”

This didn’t surprise me: “She limited meeting participation to 100 and had everyone on mute.”

Mommy knows best.

As you know, Oregon suffered disastrous results after voters approved Measure 110 in 2020, legalizing hard drugs for personal use. A few months ago, at the first meeting of a special legislative committee tasked with fixing Measure 110, legislators heard testimony for four hours from various experts. For the first three hours, every expert was female.

" Turns out, women love power every bit as much as men"

Never saw that coming, ha.

I'll raise my hand and defy the stereotype a little though. I might not be totally unique in this, but I'm not one who actively seeks positions of power or authority. If anything, I've actively avoided them throughout my career. However, I also tend to be the one guy that holds your feet to the fire if you are in a position of authority and you abuse it or fail to exercise it appropriately.

I just learned a WHOLE bunch of new stuff late last night about this chairwoman that will raise the hairs on the back of your head. I'll have to do a follow-up essay as this is the stuff of headlines.

In order for a society to work it needs a certain number of honest, fair, decent and competent people. Too many liars and dishonest, incompetent and power hungry idiots and things begin to come apart.

And said society will crumble as people turn to the state as their new god; seeking to wrap every possible transgression, every misstep, the slightest foible in legislation, worshipping the law yet never being able to overcome it.

That's insane. I don't know where exactly you're at out there, but I hadn't heard of it. I wish you the best of luck in recovering from this terrible secondary infection. Unfortunately the cancer seems to be here to stay, barring flood, fire or plague, but at least you're keeping it at bay. Think you'll be able to re-institute the chief once it's sorted?

I think reinstating is the desired outcome. It'll take at least 3 people to replace him and tax increases to pay for all the vehicle maintenance he performed on our vintage apparatus. Hopefully he'll come back when the time comes.

Please let us know the results of the recall. If I lived out there I would join the protest against that “ fire board”. Good grief!
